There comes a moment when the old ways of pushing, striving and forcing no longer work. Your vitality is left depleted. and your mind rebels. I was at such a crossroad when I first discovered tai chi, qigong and the Alexander Technique. That’s when I began to fully embrace my energy.
Your Power Within: Understanding Your Qi.
In Eastern philosophy qi (pronounced “chee”) is our life force. It’s the invisible thread of energy that flows through all living beings. When our qi is strong and balanced, we feel grounded, clear, and fully available to the present moment.
I have recently come out of a bout of intense flu (I think a COVID variant). Usually, I bounce back quite quickly. Not this time. I have felt awful for over two weeks, until yesterday. I slowly made my way to a session of acupuncture from a respected Chinese doctor.
The results have been nothing short of spectacular. While she gently inserted the needles into various points of my body, including two on either side of my nostrils, I could immediately feel my breath and cough response settle down. I arrived feeling irritable and left grounded, balanced, and my head a lot clearer.
This is the power of Qi. Learning to harness yours is a lifelong exploration and learning experience. One way to nourish our energy is through massage, Reiki, and reflexology. This is especially the case with Kahuna massage, which frees your energy and brings it into balance.
With regular practices, we can all learn to tap more fully into the wisdom of our body and trust it will find balance and healing. It is popular knowledge that we live in a world of energy, where everything vibrates at a certain frequency. Our energy affects others, as theirs does on us.
Too often, we turn to Western medicine for the answers, while acupuncture has been practised for thousands of years. And many are turning to more natural solutions to pain and discomfort. When you decide to meditate, learn yoga, tai chi and qi gong, you begin to take full control of your own energy. In other words, you take back your power.
